Information contained on this page gives information the establishment of affiliate group or student organization bank accounts, as well as the policy related to the use of the University's FEIN number and credit application information for vendors who would like credit references related to either Commodity purchases or travel purchases.
Information on Outside Bank Accounts:
Please
be advised that under no circumstance should an affiliate group or student
organization set up an outside bank account that utilizes the university’s
FEIN. The university is a tax exempt, state and federally funded entity
that is required to follow policies set forth by the IRS, the West Virginia
State Auditor’s Office and the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office among
other entities. Affiliate groups and student organizations will need to obtain
their own FEIN. If they should need assistance in obtaining their own FEIN, our
office can facilitate that process by working with WVU Tax Services in
Morgantown.
